Our story

Built by parents who missed one too many forms

A bootstrapped team in Manchester, building the tool we wanted when school life started arriving faster than we could keep up with it.

Why we built Molo

It started with a missed permission slip. Sophie's daughter's school trip had been announced in a newsletter that arrived as a PDF attachment to an email on a Thursday evening. By Friday evening, the form was back in the bag, somewhere. By the following Monday, the deadline had passed and the form was still lost. Her daughter missed the trip.

That same week, Tom's wife had forwarded him an NHS appointment reminder that she had missed because it arrived during a back-to-back meeting day. It sat in his inbox for nine days before anyone noticed the date had passed.

The problem was not that they were disorganised. Both families used shared calendars. Both were competent professionals. The problem was that school and clinic communications arrive as documents: emails, PDFs, printed letters. No calendar automatically reads documents. The step between a notice arriving and an event appearing in the calendar is still manual, and manual steps get skipped when people are busy.

We founded Molo in 2024 to close that gap. The product does one thing: reads the notices you receive and puts the events into your calendar. No templates, no configuration, no app to check. If a human could read the notice and add the event, Molo can too.

The people building it

The team

Sophie Bruce, CEO and Co-Founder of Molo

Sophie Bruce

CEO & Co-Founder

Sophie has worked in consumer product strategy across products aimed at working parents in the UK. She shapes Molo's direction from the perspective of the parent who actually receives the notice: what makes something genuinely invisible to manage rather than merely convenient.

Amara Osei-Bonsu, CTO and Co-Founder of Molo

Amara Osei-Bonsu

CTO & Co-Founder

Amara leads Molo's engineering and AI extraction layer. Her background is in natural language processing and unstructured document parsing, precisely the technical domain that makes school and clinic notice extraction tractable. She ensures Molo handles the chaotic variety of real-world document formats.

Tom Whitfield, Product and Design Co-Founder of Molo

Tom Whitfield

Product & Design Co-Founder

Tom has spent his career building consumer mobile products where simplicity is the hardest part. He owns Molo's product experience and growth: the setup flow, the calendar connection, the moments where complexity has to disappear entirely so the product becomes genuinely invisible.
